Curriculum Vitae

Lauren Curtis is a partner in the firm’s St. Petersburg, Florida office. She is an AV-rated attorney whose practice includes complex insurance coverage, bad faith, property damage and first party coverage, construction defect and general liability defense.  Her practice is primarily focused on representing insurance companies in complex insurance coverage and bad faith litigation and counseling, and she is a frequent lecturer on many insurance topics.  Ms. Curtis litigates cases throughout the state of Florida, and has handled numerous successful appeals.  Notable published opinions include Star Ins. Co. v. Dominguez, 141 So. 3d 690 (Fla. 2d DCA 2014); Illinois Union Ins. Co. v. Co-Free, 128 So. 3d 820 (Fla. 1st DCA 2013); Century Surety Co. v. Hallandale Beach Service Station, 409 Fed. Appx. 237 (11th Cir. 2012); Rosado v. DaimlerChrysler Financial Services, 1 So. 3d 1200 (Fla. 2d DCA 2009) and Century Surety Co. v. de Moraes, 998 So. 2d 642 (Fla. 4th DCA 2009).

Ms. Curtis was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1998. She is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court in the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. She is also certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Civil Mediator.

Ms. Curtis is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (ADTA), the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM), the St. Petersburg Bar Association and DRI.  She has been recognized as a “Florida Legal Elite” and one of Tampa Bay’s “Top Lawyers” in the area of Complex Litigated Matters.

Ms. Curtis graduated from Duke University with a degree in Political Science, and from Florida State University College of Law, magna cum laude.  During law school, Ms. Curtis was the recipient of the Academic Achievement Award for her graduating class, was named Top Oralist of her class, was selected as a national member of the Order of the Barristers for courtroom advocacy, and served on the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law.
